ABOUT JEFF HERRELL
Little Big Chair Farm is owned & operated by Jeff Herrell, a resident of the Historic Anacostia neighborhood since 2005. Jeff has over 30 years of gardening and seed starting experience. Jeff's “roots” go back to his rural upbringing on a farm in northern Indiana (that's Jeff on the family farm in the photo above).
After university, Jeff served for two and a half years as an agricultural Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea Bissau, West Africa. Jeff also has an extensive knowledge about plants and seed starting that he has utilized in his own garden for the last 11 years. Since 2013, Jeff has served as the Managing Director of The HIVE 2.0, the only small business incubator located east of the Anacostia River giving him extensive knowledge and resources regarding small business and small business development.
Jeff lives in a beautiful 100+ year old home in the heart of Historic Anacostia with his very energetic (and very mischievous) dog, Blue.

"I can't think of a single time when I've gone to Jeff's home when he was not growing something. He has managed to develop a year-round growing season with harvests based either in his garden, on the porch, the window sills or the kitchen countertops. Jeff looks at every seedling and cutting as an opportunity for greatness. It's no wonder Jeff's become the community expert in home gardening and urban farming.
Little Big Chair Farm is the natural progression of Jeff's life work, talent and passion. There is nothing "micro" about the impact and potential of this small business!
And as someone who has enjoyed more than a few meals at Jeff's table, I can attest that the fruits (& veggies ) of his labor are absolutely delicious! "
